ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

A new initiative developed in response to community demand for youth mentoring and employment support in Dagenham and neighbouring communities. We're supporting a minimum of 120 local residents through two core strands:

Youth Mentoring

Weekly sessions for ages 13–21, focused on confidence building, life skills, decision making, and positive goal setting, delivered by trained volunteer mentors acting as positive role models.

Job Readiness Worshops

Structured sessions for unemployed adults aged 18–35, covering CV writing, job search skills, interview preparation, digital skills, and workplace communication.

HOW THIS HELPS YOU

CONFIDENCE & MOTIVATION

Participants will gain confidence, practical employment skills, and improved motivation to pursue education, training, or work.

REDUCING BARRIERS

Aim to reduce youth unemployment, lack of guidance, and limited opportunities for skills development.

REACH YOUR POTENTIAL

It will help young people and unemployed adults reach their potential by providing early support, practical life skills, and job readiness training before long term unemployment or disengagement occurs.

COMMUNITY IMPACT

We will help nurture and produce productive young people thereby reducing unemployment and crime in our community.

FINANCIAL STABILITY

It will also support residents facing financial pressure caused by the cost of living crisis by improving their ability to access employment, develop workplace skills, and increase their chances of securing stable income.

A SAFE AND SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT

It will create a safe and supportive environment where participants build trust, share experiences, and develop positive connections.

Family Gathering Outdoors

LET'S BUILD THE COMMUNITY

The project will bring people together through weekly mentoring sessions, group learning activities, and community engagement events that strengthen relationships between young people, volunteers, and local residents.

Volunteer-Led Mentoring

Community members will continue to play an active role in the project.  Local volunteers will be trained as mentors and will help deliver the weekly mentoring sessions.

Community Partnerships

We will also work with local schools, youth groups, and community organisations to reach participants and ensure the project remains community led. This approach will help build trust, strengthen relationships, and ensure the programme supports those who need it most.

Feedback & Continuous Improvement

We will collect feedback from participants, mentors, and community partners through surveys and group discussions.  This learning will help us improve the programme and shape future community support projects."
